Dietary polyphenol and methylsulfonylmethane supplementation improves immune, DAMP Signaling, and inflammatory responses during recovery from all-out running efforts.

McFarlin BK et al.
Front Physiol. 13 Aug 2021. 12(712731). doi: 10.3389/fphys.2021.712731
The objective of this study was to investigate over 500 outcomes using a novel approach measuring RNA biomarkers that define immunological, DAMP signaling, and inflammatory responses after three different exercise challenges and with use of Restoridyn® and MSM supplementation. Subjects were asked to complete two all-out running efforts in the laboratory using a motorized treadmill, 3 weeks (5-km) and 2 weeks (10-km) prior to a half-marathon. The half-marathon was completed at a local, outdoor race event. All three running trials were completed between 0600 and 0900 to avoid circadian effects on performance and immune response. Venous blood samples were collected prior to (Pre) exercise, and 2, 4, and 8 h post run on the days when participants performed a running test (i.e., 5-km, 10-km, or 21.1-km).

Alterations in systemic inflammatory response following a half-marathon race with combined curcumin and pomegranate [Restoridyn®] supplement: A feasibility study.

Tanner EA et al.
J Diet Suppl. 2020 Jul 13. 1-17. doi: 10.1080/19390211.2020.1786206
Exploration of Restoridyn supplementation prior to and after a half-marathon race on blood inflammatory proteins and inflammation-associated RNA. Findings support the notion that Restoridyn supplementation may represent a useful addition to a comprehensive exercise training program. Positive results were also seen in immune health biomarkers, suggesting that Restoridyn supplementation may support a healthy immune response and "reduced incidence of opportunistic infection that is commonly reported following strenuous endurance exercise." Researchers go on to explain, "[r]eductions in infection risk are often associated with a more effective recovery from muscle injury."

Optimized curcumin, pomegranate extract, and methylsulfonylmethane reduce acute, systemic inflammatory response to a half-marathon race.

Tanner EA et al.
Altern Ther Health Med. 2020 Jul 01. (1): AT6137.
The combination of Restoridyn® and MSM supplementation resulted in a systemic response that may translate to an accelerated rate of muscle recovery, allowing participants return to exercise and normal activities more quickly. Results from this study not only support the first study, but also show synergistic capabilities as Restoridyn® did not exhibit limited results with the addition of MSM.

Using dietary polyphenols to manage post exercise inflammation.

Gary MA et al.
Inter J Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings. 2019. Vol 2 (Issue 11). Article 41.
Changes in RNA and proteins exhibited a trend toward reduced inflammation with supplementation of Restoridyn® and OptiMSM post-race. Further, reduced oxidative stress was observed post-race compared to placebo.

Inflammation-associated RNA signaling is reduced following a half-marathon race when supplemented with curcumin and a pomegranate extract [Restoridyn].

Tanner EA et al.
Inter J Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings. 2019. Vol 2 (Issue 11). Article 42.
Investigation of changes in mRNA signaling in response to prolonged endurance running following 30 days of Restoridyn supplementation with results showing significant down regulation of pro-inflammatory associated mRNA at 4-hours post-race compared to control.

Evaluating the effects of a half marathon race on systemic inflammation following dietary polyphenol supplementation.

Evaluating the effects of combined curcumin and pomegranate [Restoridyn®] supplementation on serum biomarkers following running a half marathon.

Evaluating the effects of systemic, exercise-induced skeletal muscle injury using whole transcriptome sequencing.

Tanner EA et al.
Poster Presentation - AAI 2018. J Immunol. 2018. 200(Supplement 1): 42.14 LP-42.14.
Also listed under the publication title, "Evaluating the effects of systemic, exercise-induced skeletal muscle injury following dietary polyphenol supplementation [with Restoridyn®]," this poster was presented at the American Association of Immunologists and showed decreases in physical soreness, regulation and balance of inflammatory response, improved recovery time, and support to immune defense in subjects taking Restoridyn®.
