Punicalagins: An Antioxidant Ally

The health benefits of pomegranates have long been associated with their high antioxidant content; however, pomegranate ellagitannins, while highly bioactive in vitro, are not absorbed intact into the bloodstream. Specifically designed to overcome absorption issues associated with ellagic acid, Pomella® pomegranate extract is standardized to polyphenols, notably punicalagins—a group of potent antioxidants.

Not only are punicalagins known to offer a powerful kick of antioxidant properties on their own, but they are also among the most ferocious scavengers of free radicals, or unstable molecules that can cause damage to the body over time.
